2017 Pay Rise or Pay Cut?

From 1 April 2017 there will be an extra 1% on all pay points as part of a two year pay settlement.
However, with inflation currently running at 3.2% this means that the real value of pay across local government has been reduced.
Since 2010 the real value of pay across local government has fallen by a staggering 20%!

UNISON will shortly begin consulting members on the pay claim for 2018. If we are to pressurise the government into giving more than 1% it is clear we must be prepared to fight for it.
With the new laws over ballots we now need to get 50% of all members voting, with at least 40% of all members voting for action before any industrial action can be legal. We urge all members to take part in any consultation on our pay.
